DATE is a SQL data type in the Data Types category. Stores a date value (YYYY-MM-DD). Range: 1000-01-01 to 9999-12-31. The syntax is DATE. It returns date. A typical example: CREATE TABLE events (event_date DATE); INSERT INTO events VALUES ('2026-06-06'); A close relative is INT, which standard integer type. Range: -2147483648 to 2147483647 (signed). Use BIGINT for larger values. A close relative is VARCHAR(n), which variable-length string with a maximum length. Most common string type. Efficient for varying-length data.
